Untitled #5

The name is Shi Jian(means: wait upon a sword). Not many parents would name their daughter Shi Jian. Not many parents would expect their daughter to 'wait upon a sword' after all. But she has no parent.

The name was given by her master, so was the life. Ever since she was a baby, she was with the master. Ever since she was a little girl, she has learned to wait. She would wait upon her young master, Leng Jian (means: cold sword), who was few years older. She would follow him whereever he go. She would tend to his every need. She would wait upon him no matter what.

The young master would grow into the most fearful swordsman in the realm. Shadow of death and scent of blood followed him day and night. He would go into places even beasts wouldn't dare to invade. So would Shi Jian.

The sheath's existence is determined by the sword it envelops. Without the sword, it's just an empty sheath. The sheath takes pride from the type of sword it contains. Leng Jian is definitely not an ordinary sword. Leng Jian is probably the coldest and most lethal sword around. Any women would be dying to be the sword's sheath. Yet Leng Jian is the type of sword that can only be contained inside one type of sheath.

Shi Jian is certainly not an ordinary sheath either. The coldest sword in the world would turn warm whenever it returns to this sheath. And when it's time for the sword to be unsheathed.. Shi Jian would not ask a thing. She would not know where Leng Jian would go and she would not know when Leng Jian would return. But she knows that she only has to wait.

Is this ignorance? No.. this is trust.

No one in the realm dare to doubt Leng Jian's sword. But only one person in the world dare to trust Leng Jian's heart. Naturally a sheath trusts its sword.

Leng Jian will never fail to return as long as Shi Jian is waiting. Leng Jian knows Shi Jian will be there. Even the coldest sword would trust its sheath.

*the name Shi Jian is purely 'stolen' from Jin Yong's novel.

Father

I am reading the book "Wild at Heart". One of the most striking points that the author made was that of how many, if not almost all, men are most severely wounded by their own father. You would have thought that your dad will be the one who believes in you when everyone else is doubting you. You expect him to do so. Coz when he does, you know that it ain't matter even if the rest are against you. So when it turns out that he is siding with those who doubt you. It hurts the most. It kills off your hope. It strips you off your courage and belief to be a real man. Because the man who is suppose to show you how to be a real man, the one whose approval matters the most.. does not side with you. He loves you.. yes. But a father's role is not simply to love and nurture. He is more than just that. He is your assurance, stronghold, strength. He leads you into adventure, he fights with you side by side, he shows you how to rescue a beauty. When your father of flesh and blood ca...
