the circle

When they say "I love you forever"
sometimes I wonder if they know how long 'forever' is.
Coz I don't.
I only know that humans don't live forever.
If anything.. only God knows what 'forever' means.

Anyway.. Anita's bro, also named David, was with us last night.
He had flown back to Japan early morning.
Noticed that we have so many things in common. Most importantly, we both lovee Japan.
And it got me thinking..'hey.. I could have walked that path"

I wonder if I had planned it differently,
if I had studied hard for the Japan scholarship nine years ago and got in,
it would have been better.

But then.. it just goes to show how brilliant God is.
I believe that despite our similarities..
we are walking very different paths not by coincidence or failure.
It's perfectly in His plan.
And I believe it couldn't have been any better.

I remember this part of the Three Kingdom movie where Luo Ping An (played by Sammo Hung), told Zhi Long (Andy Lau) how he envied Zhi Long.
Despite being older and first to join the army, Ping An never achieved anything while Zhi Long was one of the legendary five tiger generals.

So Zhi Long told him,
"In the end, am I not only walking in big circle of life? Coming back to where I began? What's so difference between us?"
Something like that.

I guess that's what Solomon felt when he wrote that favorite book of mine.
Everything was vanity.
Whether he was an ordinary man, or the wisest king in history..
life still comes to the same end point.

But such wisdom.. how could we ever agree?
Unless we have been to the moon and back,
to the top of world and back.

For us.. the ordinary being striving hard to the top..
how could we ever grasp such understanding even if we read about it?

That's too difficult Lord.

Father

I am reading the book "Wild at Heart". One of the most striking points that the author made was that of how many, if not almost all, men are most severely wounded by their own father. You would have thought that your dad will be the one who believes in you when everyone else is doubting you. You expect him to do so. Coz when he does, you know that it ain't matter even if the rest are against you. So when it turns out that he is siding with those who doubt you. It hurts the most. It kills off your hope. It strips you off your courage and belief to be a real man. Because the man who is suppose to show you how to be a real man, the one whose approval matters the most.. does not side with you. He loves you.. yes. But a father's role is not simply to love and nurture. He is more than just that. He is your assurance, stronghold, strength. He leads you into adventure, he fights with you side by side, he shows you how to rescue a beauty. When your father of flesh and blood ca...
