journal: a little step

As I grow older, I pay less attention to what men say. I just watch what they do.- Andrew Carnegie

I find this statement to be so very true. Also partly the reason why I blog less.
I place less value on what I think I know.. unless I eventually put them into purposeful action.
Which makes me realise.. I might know too much and do too little.

People who are unable to motivate themselves must be content with mediocrity, no matter how impressive their other talents. - Andrew Carnegie

It is true that unless the Lord build the house, our hard work will be in vain.
However.. it is worth noting too that even the Lord instructs us to be persistent in asking.
In other word, a great motivation is needed to keep us going.

I had a glimpse of a book written by the sister of our friend recently.
It was mainly a book about life lesson(s).
She is a good writer and I tend to enjoy reading her thoughts in her blog.

While it became evident quite instantly that it was a book written by and from a 20 something perspective, it was clear too that it was brimming with courage that a 30 or 40 something might have lost somewhere along the way.
She published a book. That is something!
How many of us who loves writing actually get to publish a book?

As we are about to end the first month of the year's second half, I just thought of reminding myself again..
2017 will not be marked by what I said I would do or achieve.
It will simply be marked by what I actually do.. and achieve.

Oh and btw.. is it just me or is it normal that as we grow older, we have less tolerance for jerks?
Just curious..

Father

I am reading the book "Wild at Heart". One of the most striking points that the author made was that of how many, if not almost all, men are most severely wounded by their own father. You would have thought that your dad will be the one who believes in you when everyone else is doubting you. You expect him to do so. Coz when he does, you know that it ain't matter even if the rest are against you. So when it turns out that he is siding with those who doubt you. It hurts the most. It kills off your hope. It strips you off your courage and belief to be a real man. Because the man who is suppose to show you how to be a real man, the one whose approval matters the most.. does not side with you. He loves you.. yes. But a father's role is not simply to love and nurture. He is more than just that. He is your assurance, stronghold, strength. He leads you into adventure, he fights with you side by side, he shows you how to rescue a beauty. When your father of flesh and blood ca...
