Ah Pek's Life

When men gets older, they get to know more things,
and thus they could talk more and longer, sounds wiser,
and yet.. they get to do less things.
they have lesser courage to take risks.

Just spend an hour in a crowded coffee shop.
If we are lucky, we will listen to some interesting conversation
among some knowledgeable ah peks.. who seems to know it all.

But that's what they do.. they watch, they criticise, they watch, they talk.

You ask them to try something..
they will give you all their 'risk analysis' and tell you..
"Cannot do one lah.. it's too risky!"
and when a courageous young man tries and fails.. they tell you..
"Told you so.. where got so easy?"

I am really worried that we are heading there.
I hope and try not to.
Maybe that's how Coral comes about.

Instead of watching how the car COE rises..
complain about it.. predict when it will come down, bla bla bla..
I just listen to the heart.. and go for it.
And ask God to provide for me.. make it a fruitful investment.

I am not saying it is always the best practice.
But I am saying.. our heart, our intuition.. is worth trusting.
Because Jesus lives in us. If we don't seek answer from within, where else should we get our answer from? Newspaper? TV?

We are talking about God who makes way in the desert and stream in the wasteland.
He is creative. He is unconventional. He is unfathomable.
So are His solutions to our problems. So are His plans for our life.

I like today's sermon.
We can't find God in our realm of logic. Never.
We can't find God's plans by sitting and analyzing like those Ah Peks.

We can only find Him through an adventurous journey of faith,
like a child who opens up his mind to imagination and possibilities.
Every day every minute.. and every time we breathe out..
is an opportunity for a divine encounter.

Because the great almighty and unfathomable God
who has the whole universe at His very feet..
He lives inside us.
As real as blood that flow through our vein,
as real as heart that beats within our chest.
Yeah.. there He is.. there He stays.

Father

I am reading the book "Wild at Heart". One of the most striking points that the author made was that of how many, if not almost all, men are most severely wounded by their own father. You would have thought that your dad will be the one who believes in you when everyone else is doubting you. You expect him to do so. Coz when he does, you know that it ain't matter even if the rest are against you. So when it turns out that he is siding with those who doubt you. It hurts the most. It kills off your hope. It strips you off your courage and belief to be a real man. Because the man who is suppose to show you how to be a real man, the one whose approval matters the most.. does not side with you. He loves you.. yes. But a father's role is not simply to love and nurture. He is more than just that. He is your assurance, stronghold, strength. He leads you into adventure, he fights with you side by side, he shows you how to rescue a beauty. When your father of flesh and blood ca...
