the Unlikely Source

Words satisfy the mind as much as fruit does the stomach;
good talk is as gratifying as a good harvest.
Words kill, words give life;
they're either poison or fruit—you choose.
- Proverbs 18

Whenever someone says he or she is expert in NLP (Neuro Language Programming), or someone is speaking from 'Law of Attraction' books like 'the Secret',
I would instantly be alarmed.
While I agree with positive thinking and power of words, I tend to disagree with those teaching that seems to put man's words above God's sovereign will.

Having said that, I must admit that I found it somewhat inspiring listening to a lady who gave 4 hours talk to us yesterday.
She, of course, was believer of 'Law of Attraction' and all sort of new age teachings.

But I realised a lot of her words made sense.

Well.. a Christian who is absorbed in pessimistic thought and negative words is somewhat worse than a new age guy who live in principle of abundance.

I thought..
Darn!! How could these people, who do not know God, live in principle of abundance while we, God's children, live and talk as if we are always lacking in something.

She said that if we desire for rich and success, we should always live, believing as if we are already rich and successful.
I thought..
Wait a minute!! That's another piece taken from my bible. Jesus was the one who taught us, "whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours". (Mark 11:24).

That lady is a reminder to us that we, Christians, have all the reason to live in principle of abundance.
And what a much better life we have in Christ.
For the Lord is our Shepherd, we shall not want anything. (Psalm 23).

*Positive.. Positive.. Positive*

Father

I am reading the book "Wild at Heart". One of the most striking points that the author made was that of how many, if not almost all, men are most severely wounded by their own father. You would have thought that your dad will be the one who believes in you when everyone else is doubting you. You expect him to do so. Coz when he does, you know that it ain't matter even if the rest are against you. So when it turns out that he is siding with those who doubt you. It hurts the most. It kills off your hope. It strips you off your courage and belief to be a real man. Because the man who is suppose to show you how to be a real man, the one whose approval matters the most.. does not side with you. He loves you.. yes. But a father's role is not simply to love and nurture. He is more than just that. He is your assurance, stronghold, strength. He leads you into adventure, he fights with you side by side, he shows you how to rescue a beauty. When your father of flesh and blood ca...
