this thing called 'favor'

Well.. we all know this guy, right?

Probably.. the greatest worship leader that our country has ever produced thus far.
At least.. exposure-wise.
A regular in Hillsong Conf, well respected by people like Darlene, Israel, et al.
Despite his small frame, this guy is Huge.

But when you attend his local church, you will see how 'ordinary' he is.
One day, I was at his church when he was preaching.
He shared with us about how his wife was often amused by his popularity.
Coz as he put it, he was really.. really.. an ordinary guy. Nothing special.

If you don't know any better, it will sound like a fake humility.
Seriously.. he is probably the Most Famous Guy there is when it comes to Indonesian Gospel.

But he was saying the true.
His church has so much talent that if you simply talk about talent, he was indeed 'nothing special'.
In terms of voice, there are some younger WLs with better techniques.
In terms of music instruments, his guitar is, by his own admission, basic.
In terms of, erm, look (well.. that matters somehow in today's context, unfortunately), he is not exactly smashing too.

Oh and he was just as nervous as you and I when he was preaching.

Allow me to give honest comparison here. Based on the above criteria..
I would say that he is not so much greater than this friend of us.

Especially if you consider his early appearance.

But well.. we were all uglier in the past rite.

My point is.. I just can't help admiring how God has used him thru his worship leading and song writing.
It was truly God's favor.
How many times have we sang his songs in our moment of worship?
How many times have we been strengthened thru those songs?
That's all God.

Guess God just loves to use ordinary people to do extraordinary works.
And I pray that he will continue to be that vessel that lift our King up.

Bless you Sid.

Father

I am reading the book "Wild at Heart". One of the most striking points that the author made was that of how many, if not almost all, men are most severely wounded by their own father. You would have thought that your dad will be the one who believes in you when everyone else is doubting you. You expect him to do so. Coz when he does, you know that it ain't matter even if the rest are against you. So when it turns out that he is siding with those who doubt you. It hurts the most. It kills off your hope. It strips you off your courage and belief to be a real man. Because the man who is suppose to show you how to be a real man, the one whose approval matters the most.. does not side with you. He loves you.. yes. But a father's role is not simply to love and nurture. He is more than just that. He is your assurance, stronghold, strength. He leads you into adventure, he fights with you side by side, he shows you how to rescue a beauty. When your father of flesh and blood ca...
