I was expecting great tactics and twists.. only to find the movie inferior to "Battle of Wits", also played by Andy Lau.
It's not that bad.. even if it deviates from the original novel almost entirely.
But it lacks something.. i dunno.
Andy Lau himself, to me, was only outstanding when he portrayed the old Zhao Zhi Long. He had that great smile that most heroes had in the face of their final battle.
The image of him riding the horse, wielding his majestic spear, charging alone towards the sea of soldiers- that was probably the only part where my heart was stirred and thought "this is truly befitting the invincible tiger general, Zhao Zhi Long".
He was cool when he said that line
"I am Zhao Zhi Long from Chang Shan.. I am the guardian of Phoenix Height."
