Between good (and popular) news and must-see (and maybe not what the audience want) news, as a reporter, which one will you prioritise?
This is one of the questions that Pinocchio, the korean series, ponder on.
News that nobody is watching is not really news. Is that true?
The series explore the power of media and how it can be misused to distort the truth.
Coming from a country like Indonesia, I totally could relate with that.
And therefore I found that reporter job is truly an awesome one.
Or a sad one. When you realise how wicked and scary this world really is.
Just like a lawyer job.
One morale that I really pondered on as I watched this was this.
In today's world, in order for your voice to be heard by many, you may have to compromise by selling your soul along the way. You tell people what they like to hear so that 'one day', you can tell people what you believe they need to hear. But will that 'one day' ever come if you no longer keep your soul?
Oh yeah, glad to be sharing with fa blessed today. Some interesting characters there :)
Guess I should have written note so I could deliver my points clearer.
Towards the end someone asked- do we really have to learn and grow only thru bad times?
To which someone else replied that it wasn't necessary. The difficult thing is to learn thru good times.
Because that comes with maturity.
I guess rather than explaining there, I will write this down here.
I never say that you can only learn thru bad times. Or that you can't learn anything in good times.
But some of life's greatest lessons, are learned thru trials and season of being in the desert.
Adversity is therefore not something to avoid. It is a privilege.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4)
Did you not know what Jesus went thru at the final hours of his life on earth?
Did you not know that those suffering completed His work?
And therefore my friends, it is necessary.
True maturity? I believe the verses above explained what it took to achieve that :)
