Hmm.. the last post was 14 days ago.. what have I been doing lately? Anyway, just finished the bible camp, phew.. I was quite anxious in the beginning for many reasons but everything went well and shall I conclude everything in "God is good" these three words? Ya.. God is good.
There is just one question that remains. How much do I want to give for God? In all my weaknesses and love for the worldly stuff, I have to admit it's a bit painful to realize that the only answer He'd love to get is 'everything'.
Well the truth is I have written some stuff in the last two weeks but always kept them in the draft for one reason or another. Even the above two paragraphs were taken from the last draft. I was basically talking about the unworthy phenomenon that is Dan Brown, but realizing that in the end, maintaining love and peace among your brothers and sisters in Christ is the most important matter. So let each of us act according to our faith and glorify God in doing so.
Am now listening to soundtrack of the latest version of Divine Eagle Gallant Knight series. The actor who plays Yang Guo this time is quite macho I think, and the actress, Liu Yi Fei, who plays Xiao Long Nu is well.. definitely pretty (my fave wuxia actress at the moment ^^), but lacks the icy cold aura the little dragon girl should emit.
Xiao Long Nu is not an easy character to bring to life. You can find pretty girl with snow white complexion quite easily. But that is only one-third of Xiao Long Nu. She also needs to have that innocent as well as cold look, that unbreakable composure that show almost no emotion whatsoever. Things get more complicated as she turns into an emotional and frail girl overwhelmed with love towards the middle of the story.
It's not easy to get it right because most movie directors only put emphasis on Jin Yong's description of Xiao Long Nu as a girl with unparalleled beauty. They just try to find the most beautiful actress at the moment and ask her to play Xiao Long Nu. Nonetheless.. I will watch this version. I am now reading the novel and just realised one trivial thing. Many versions of the story show the divine eagle flying across the sky. The funny thing is.. the divine eagle in the story can't fly actually. It's too heavy and big for its short wings.
Anyway, now I understand why my dad told me the story of Guo Jing and the story of Dragon Sabre and the story of the Proud Wanderer, but never the story of Yang Guo. I was too small for this story. Basically, Yang Guo's story is not about the martial arts. It's about the love between two lonely souls.
