talking about the word 'slow', it reminds me of some basic lesson we learn about change management.
lately, there has been some, I would say, rather significant changes in our youth ministry.
and unsurprisingly, there has also been a lot of resistances, conflicts, and sometimes, it could turn quite ugly.
but that's natural. because as Newton says in his first law of motion, matters resist changes. people are also the same.
i believe we should learn from the lesson and be better when we'd like to introduce some changes, even in church.
you can't just come up one day and says
'we got a new direction',
and instantly get everyone to drop their old habits and ways of doing things, and gets them to move towards your new direction.
just because God says so.
well. you CAN.. but be prepared to face resistance and deal with it.
and when you keep making such changes, be prepared to lose their trust.
that's unless your team is filled with people who, by nature, are flexible and acceptant to changes. but what kind of team do you have?
you can't just impose changes, you gotta manage the changes.
it may slow you down initially, but when everything is in place, you will be able to speed up without fear of breaking down halfway down the race.
wah lao.. i speak like i know it =P well.. actually i also wonder how to be good at this, must go and study MBA i guess
