Had dinner with Hady, Vy, and the others last night. Turned out to be rather eventful heh =D
Went to a restaurant most of us are familiar with.. it was packed and they expectedly messed up with the orders. One of our orders was given to someone else and we ended up cancelling that one coz everyone had finished eating by the time they realized their blunder. So the owner tried to be nice (he is a nice chap by the way) and told us: "Next time you come, it's (the cancelled dish) on us!"
Those business people are damn smart, aren't they? Why next time? So I played dumb and told him that he could always give us discount then. He had no choice of course. So he gave that half hearted 10% disc. I am not one who would bother to ask for such thing usually. In fact I acted rather 'shamelessly' that night. You could say that I was INSPIRED lately haha.
I was inspired coz I felt sometimes people care too much about their dignity or pride that they forget that it's integrity that counts.
And it's baffling that to them, they are valued by:
- how they behave in public places
- the way they dress and the brand of apparel they are wearing
- and many other trivial stuff
Ya.. those comments such as:
-"Look at the way he eat, how uncivilized!"
-"Goodness.. I am not wearing such brand"
They amuse me =)
It reminds me of the time Jesus was approached by those people who critized His disciples for not washing their hands before they ate.
I like today's preacher's way of defining 'integrity'. He said integrity is who you are when no one is around. Pride, in my opinion, often has to do with who you are in others' eyes.
Ah talked too much..
