Told you it was good! *at least for me, it was =D
Initially Ata and I wanted to watch Crazy Stone (another movie which get that 'what kind of stupid movie is that?' response).
We were all set for the 9PM show at PlaSing, the only place that shows that movie. Ata managed to drag his kind housemate, Fitri, and Darvin who just came back from Bangkok. We had our Carls Jr., were full and ready to buy the ticket. And to my horror, it wasn't showing yesterday! =( I made a blunder, a BIG one. Can't explain how bad I felt. I checked the website but didn't check the date.
We were dumbfounded. Fitri came in the name of solidarity so she was quite alright I think. Then she said she wanted to watch Hard Candy. Woohoo! The only problem was to convince Ata it was not a horror and Ata, in the name of solidarity, finally gave in. =D
A low budget movie with only two relatively unknown main casts and one setting, an ordinary house. Darvin pointed out that even the transition between scene was rather unprofessional. So how good can this movie be?
But my question is, given these minimum resources, what kind of movie will you make? Tom and Jerry?
The idea of the story was good but not spectacular. It's about a teen who meets a stranger thru Internet, hooks up, and follows that stranger (a man in his early 30) to his house. The guy mixes her a drink typically but hey, she says 'the school taught us not to drink anything we don't mix ourselves'. So she mixes herself and the guy drink instead. One glass, two glass. She is sober, he is down. The game begins! The prey turns predator.
Maybe I felt the movie was good because I didn't expect to stay engaged listening to the banter of words between these two. The girl was particularly witty and the guy was not a dumb either. The girl, especially, managed to brought to life her character. Another reason why I liked the movie was the message that it tried to convey.
Teens.. we say that they are a mess nowadays. But whose fault is that? Who feed them with all the wrong information and bad things? Its us.. adults. Who pay them money to do things they shouldn't be doing? Its us.. freaking adults.
Just because a girl is ready to act like a woman doesn't mean she is ready to do what a woman does- so the girl said.
The guy himself, was a portrayal of every seemingly decent adult with proper job and a dark side no one seems to know of. The encounter with the girl simply opens his eyes to the fact that anything you wouldn't do in daylight, you shouldn't do it in the darkest corner of your house.
