Pleasant Surprise

The last 4 days have been kinda a change from my routines. My dad n mum came on thursday. I went to meet them at Raffles City. My mum was acting strange, dragging me here and there, and I was amused but couldn't figure out what was going on. We had dinner and was about to leave when my mum went to call a boy who was busy doing some homework on other table. I was surprised, n seconds later, surprised at how unobserving I was. My bro was coming with them @_@ and he was around all the time, I even walked pass him a couple of times. I just didn't bother to see around. Anyway.. yeah a pleasant surprise. Surprise is something I have not had enough of lately.

The highlight of the 4 days was trying out the 'dian xiao er', a restaurant at marina square selling herbal duck. the place was designed somewhat like the oldtime restaurant with the waiters all dressed in the oldtime waiter dress. and for the first time in my life i tried out the ever famous wine "nu er hong". It was 3.20$ per cup. 19.00$ per jug. well, to bro wanderer: I guess I just found the place where we can drink wine like those wuxia people.

And as we ate there, it just crossed our mind that.. jakarta hasn't got this kind of restaurant selling typical old chinese dishes that go well with wine. not many are fond of wine and duck but if your restaurant is the only one selling them then.. ^^

Okie dokie.. that's the end of the 4 days. it certainly felt strange, detaching myself from everything I normally do for 4 days here. health has not been good, fingers crossed I am fit for japan trip. quite disappointed though, that I can't extend my japan trip to do some travel on our own.

it's march, and it's hot.. being single and free is all nice and fun but I think I need a 'you'.

Comments

ok, let's go there!
just forgive me..ur brother has not mastered the "it yang cie" so i cannot purge out the wine thru my finger. guess, i have to drink tea, instead of wine :P

Father

I am reading the book "Wild at Heart". One of the most striking points that the author made was that of how many, if not almost all, men are most severely wounded by their own father. You would have thought that your dad will be the one who believes in you when everyone else is doubting you. You expect him to do so. Coz when he does, you know that it ain't matter even if the rest are against you. So when it turns out that he is siding with those who doubt you. It hurts the most. It kills off your hope. It strips you off your courage and belief to be a real man. Because the man who is suppose to show you how to be a real man, the one whose approval matters the most.. does not side with you. He loves you.. yes. But a father's role is not simply to love and nurture. He is more than just that. He is your assurance, stronghold, strength. He leads you into adventure, he fights with you side by side, he shows you how to rescue a beauty. When your father of flesh and blood ca...

journal: a little update

wow I am actually back to this blog. between Apr 27 2018 and now.. what has happened? I officially proposed to my girlfriend (wah.. trust me you gonna miss that word), got married, and.. became a dad. yeah.. all in a matter of less than 2 years. now when you consider the fact that in 2015 I would not have the slightest idea how things would turn out, it just goes to show how life changes in a blink. How is married life? Well.. I am one of those who has pretty pragmatic view when it comes to marriage. I have seen enough to know that relationship is messy. So.. I must say marriage has been way way better than my expectation hah.. For example.. I knew that my wife is a smart woman. I knew some of her shortcoming too.. (and there are some I didn't know till we got married, of course) BUT... here's the big bonus. I didn't know she can be that adorably funny in her own way. Not funny like a standup comedian funny but.. you know.. she makes me laugh. Trust me....
